ECNS, Meishan, May 25 (Liu Zhongjun, Yang Xuedong) - On May 25, a customized mobile flash-butt welder for urban rail transit in South American countries, the UN5-150ZB1GT-Y9 flash-butt welder with rail-road vehicle, was officially launched at CRRC Meishan Rolling Stock Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "CRRC Meishan") and dispatched to Shanghai Port, bound for the Port of Buenaventura in Colombia. This marks the first time a "Made-in-China" UN5-150ZB1GT-Y9 flash-butt welder with rail-road vehicle has entered the South American market.
The UN5-150ZB1GT-Y9 flash-butt welder with rail-road vehicle eliminates the shortcomings of traditional railway flatcars with container-mounted welding machines, such as poor mobility, high costs, low efficiency, and the need for locomotive traction, which significantly impacts project timelines. It can freely switch between highway and railway use, "walking" on its own without the need for a locomotive. It can operate on tracks without the need for crane or truck transportation, enabling seamless transitions from highway travel to railway operations, significantly reducing operational costs and timelines.

The technology of the UN5-150ZB1GT-Y9 flash-butt welder with rail-road vehicle spans four major industries - machinery, electronics, hydraulics, and communications - integrating various technologies such as specialized automotive chassis, specialized track wheel axles, and hydraulic lifting mechanisms. Its cost-effectiveness far surpasses similar overseas products, having obtained four patent authorizations. It has entered markets in Southeast Asia, Europe, Africa, and West Asia, with small-batch exports to Singapore and Azerbaijan.
In April 2023, Colombian businessmen visited the project site of the UN5-150ZB1GT-Y9 flash-butt welder with rail-road vehicle, inspected the test equipment and quality control measures, witnessed the test and product acceptance of the welder, and simultaneously explored cooperation on small-turning-radius products and a spectrum of products covering line stringing, welding, normalizing, grinding, and other operational units.
CRRC Meishan stated that the next step will be to develop other rail-road dual-use engineering equipment suitable for rail transit firefighting, road maintenance, communication repairs, and construction logistics services, forming a product spectrum of rail-road dual-use equipment with various functions ranging from high-end to low-end to serve the national railway's "14th Five-Year Plan" development strategy.
